Man Rescued Dangling From RSA Tower

A man has been rescued after he was seen dangling from the RSA Tower in downtown Mobile. According to WKRG News 5, the Mobile Fire Department rescued Jared Cooper who was stranded 450 feet in the air. Cooper suffered no injuries from the incident and plans on returning to work today.

What Happened At The Tower?

Cooper works for a local window washing company and was cleaning the windows of the RSA Tower for the first time yesterday. The equipment he used to work on the building malfunctioned, leaving him stranded outside the skyscraper. Fortunately, the Mobile Fire Department was able to quickly assist.

After setting up a rope system on the 35th floor of the RSA Tower, Captain Robert Brown was able to lower himself down and rescue Cooper. The fire department responded to the incident within 5 minutes.

What Is The RSA Tower?

The RSA Battle House Tower is located in downtown Mobile. At 745 ft, it is the tallest building in Alabama. Construction of the tower concluded in 2006. It cost $220 million to build and opened in 2007.

The Retirement Systems of Alabama owns the building. It boasts 534,000 square feet of space of space, including offices, lobbies, and hotel rooms.

How Frequent Are Accidents At The Tower?

Incidents such as the one involving Jared Cooper are rare at the tower. Luckily, the Mobile Fire Department can handle such problems. Even though skyscrapers are not abundant in downtown Mobile, the fire department has the tools needed to make rescues when called upon.
