Chikesia Clemons was found guilty of resisting arrest on Friday. Clemons was appealing an earlier guilty verdict in municipal court. The jury found her not guilty of disorderly conduct.

According to WKRG News 5, the jury began deliberating around 3:30 PM. Right before 6:00 PM, they told the judge they were deadlocked. The jury was able to reach a verdict just before 8:00 PM.

Earlier in the day, Circuit Court Judge Brandy Hambright denied a motion by the defense to dismiss the case against Clemons. Her attorney, Marcus Foxx, claimed misconduct by the prosecutors.

The trial stems from an incident at the Waffle House in Saraland on 158. According to police, Clemons showed up to the restaurant drunk and threatened employees. The defense has argued that she was simply trying to get the number to the corporate office to register a complaint.

Waffle House employees called the police, who showed up to the scene and arrested Clemons. Video of her arrest went viral, as she struggled with officers on the floor and her shirt came off. The video sparked protests for weeks after the incident.
