**Update** President Trump has canceled plans to move coronavirus patients to the Anniston facility. Read more by clicking here.

The Federal Government has decided to move patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus to a facility in Anniston, Alabama. Citizens who have returned to the country with the virus have been kept in quarantine in order to slow the spread of the deadly virus. Thus far over 74,000 people have been infected worldwide, with 2,400 succumbing to the disease.

The decision came as a surprise to locals. Many were unhappy with the decision, including Congressman Bradley Byrne. The congressman stated that the decision made no sense and that the infected should be kept together at their point of entry into the country.

Patients from California, Colorado, and Texas will all be coming to the FEMA run facility in Anniston. According to Local 15 News, this particular facility is unique. It has had people from across the country come to train for natural disasters.

The coronavirus has stirred concern across the globe. It has already surpassed the scope of the similar SARS outbreak almost two decades ago, which was also in China. While the concern is fine, there is no need to panic over the situation. The outbreak has already started slowing in China. On top of that, the US is much better prepared to handle the situation.

One must also take the numbers surrounding the coronavirus into context. They pale in comparison to the common flu. The flu infects between 3 and 5 million every single year and kills up to 650,000 a year.

What do you think about the government’s decision? Leave a comment and let me know.
