For the first time since 2011, the LSU Tigers are the champions of the SEC. The Tigers capped off a perfect season with a 37-10 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game Saturday afternoon. The win over the #4 Bulldogs could propel the Tigers to the #1 spot in the coming College Football Playoffs.

LSU was led by QB Joe Burrow, who completed 28 of 38 passes for 349 yards and 4 touchdowns. It was another big game for Burrow in a season full of them. He came into the game as a Heisman favorite and did nothing to lessen those odds.

Georgia QB Jake Fromm did not fare as well Saturday. Fromm struggled against the Tigers defense, completing 20 out of 42 passes for 225 yards and only 1 touchdown. He also threw 2 interceptions. The Bulldogs running backs didn’t fare much better, as they only racked up 61 yards on the ground. Georgia failed to score a touchdown until the 4th quarter.

The win guarantees LSU a spot in the playoffs. They are likely to be joined by Ohio State, who won the Big 10 title Saturday by defeating Wisconsin. Clemson should be in as well, as the defending champs capped another perfect season with a blowout win over Virginia. Oklahoma looks to be the favorite for the fourth spot, as they claimed the Big 12 title with a win over Baylor and have only 1 loss on their record.
