LSU quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy Saturday night, becoming the second player from the school to be honored. Burrow lead LSU to a 13-0 season and an SEC Championship. The Tigers will take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff semifinals on December 28th.
Burrow had a stellar season at LSU. He set an SEC record with 48 touchdown passes. He threw for 4,715 yards with only 6 interceptions and a QBR of 93.7. Burrow raised his game to meet the competition, leading the Tigers to wins over 5 top ten teams.
Burrow also set records in the Heisman competition itself. He received the highest percentage of first-place votes ever at 90.7%. He was named on a record 95.5% of the ballots. His margin over the second-place finisher, Jalen Hurts, was 1,846 points, also a record.
Burrow beat out the aforementioned Hurts, and a pair of Buckeyes from Ohio State: QB Justin Fields and DE Chase Young.
