New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees broke the NFL record for career touchdown passes last night. Brees tossed the 540th touchdown of his career in the third quarter, breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 539. He also set a record for the highest completion percentage in a game at 96.7%.

Brees has had a phenomenal career. The former Super Bowl champ was already the NFL’s leading passer with 76,884 yards, putting him almost 5,000 yards ahead of Tom Brady in second place. Brees boasts a career completion percentage of 67.6 and a QB rating of 98.2.

Brees’ stellar performance led the Saints to a 34-7 win over the Colts. The win gives the Saints an 11-3 record, tied for best in the NFC with three other teams. They have already clinched their division. New Orleans will close their season on the road, facing the Tennessee Titans and South Carolina Panthers next.
