A terrifying scene unfolded in a Philadelphia neighborhood Wednesday afternoon after narcotics officers attempted to serve a warrant. At approximately 4:30 PM, officers were ambushed by a shooter downstairs shooting through the ceiling after serving the warrant. Six were injured in the altercation.

Some of the officers returned fire as others escaped through windows and doors. Two officers and three civilians were trapped inside the rowhouse with the shooter for five hours after he barricaded himself in. All five were safely evacuated by a SWAT team.

Police continued negotiating with the shooter to surrender late into the night. He finally surrendered more than seven hours after the standoff began.

None of the officers who were shot suffered serious injuries. All six have already been released from the hospital.
