Semmes is looking to beef up its law enforcement for 2020. The city is currently patrolled by 15 sheriff’s deputies that it contracts out from Mobile County. By next summer, Semmes is looking to add 8 additional deputies to its patrols.
According to Local 15 News, two deputies will be added immediately. It will take time to add the rest, as the sheriff’s office is suffering from a staffing shortage. More deputies will be added over time.
Semmes is a relatively new city in Mobile County. It was officially incorporated on May 2nd, 2011. The city covers around 2,100 acres and has a population of about 20,000.
