Satsuma High School will be closed on Tuesday, August 13th. The school has been experiencing air conditioning issues. According to a post via the Satsuma School System’s Facebook page, the AC has been fixed but there are concerns with moisture building up and making the floors unsafe. You can find their full post below:
Satsuma High School Parents and Employees,
Satsuma High School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
The primary issue with the cooling system has been repaired and is in full operation. However, secondary issues have now been discovered that MAY NOT fully bring the humidity down in the building, especially when students and employees arrive, even though the unit is in full operation.
As such, confidence is low that moisture WILL NOT build up in the building which could potentially cause the floors to become unsafe. As a result, we will ere on the side of caution and cancel school for Satsuma High School ONLY tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13th.
HVAC engineers and specialists will be onsite tonight and into the morning hours until confidence is high that all problems have been resolved.
Again, Satsuma High School will be closed tomorrow Tuesday, August 13th. REL will remain open. We do apologize for the inconvenience but safety is our primary concern. We will notify everyone tomorrow by 3 pm with an update.
Thanks!
Bart Reeves
Superintendent, Satsuma City Schools
