The Walmart located on Industrial Parkway in Saraland was evacuated last night due to a bomb threat. According to WKRG News 5, the store was quickly cleared and operations returned to normal. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
Fake threats have become common in recent years, especially right around the start of school. In the post-9-11 world, all threats have to be taken seriously. On top of that, a recent surge in mass shootings across the country has authorities on high alert.
The fact that Walmart was targeted surely triggered extra precaution. It was at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas that a gunman killed 22 and injured 27 on August 3rd. In Florida, a man was arrested for threatening to attack another Walmart.
